•..Jazz guitarist Bill Frisell has released a Download-only album, “Further East/Further West,” that follows the format of his “East/West,” released on CD earlier in 2005, with one disc by his west coast trio and the 2nd by his east coast trio.  A 9-minute Masters Of War  was recorded by the east coast trio with Tony Scherr and Kenny Wollesen, live at the Village Vanguard in New York City, December 2003. Barb Jungr's "Love Me Tender," a tribute to the music of Elvis Presley, has been released by Linn Records.  The SACD Hybrid release features "reconceived" versions of some well-known and some lesser-known Elvis songs, including two Dylan songs Elvis recorded: I Shall Be Released  and  Tomorrow Is A Long Time. From the press release:  Poised between pop, jazz and cabaret, Jungr’s tributes to Jacques Brel, Léo Ferré and Dylan are among the most thoughtful British recordings of the past decade. She takes risks — an album dedicated to Presley could easily turn into high-grade kitsch — but there are no such problems here. Always on My Mind, along with the title ballad and the superb Love Letters, are transformed. The arrangers, Adrian York and Jonathan Cooper, have stripped the pieces to their basics, with Jungr’s voice cushioned by celeste, minimalist piano figures and string quartet.
